The "Sogang Korean Revised 3rd Edition" has been designed to help learners effectively acquire language and culture based on the extensive experience of the instructors at Sogang University’s Korean Language Education Center. This edition reflects the latest trends to match the changing times and incorporates feedback from those who cherish Sogang, enhancing convenience for both teachers and learners.

The "Sogang Korean Revised 3rd Edition" is structured around a 200-hour curriculum, consisting of:

• 100 hours of speaking,

• 25 hours of reading and speaking,

• 25 hours of listening and speaking,

• 50 hours of writing.

In August 2024, we published:

• Sogang Korean Student’s Book 1A & 1B,

• Sogang Korean Workbook 1A & 1B,

• Sogang Korean Hangeul, and

• Sogang Korean Writing Book 1A & 1B.

Following this, we are introducing:

• Sogang Korean Student’s Book 2A & 2B and

• Sogang Korean Writing Book+ 2A & 2B.

The "Sogang Korean Writing Book+ 2A & 2B" has been newly designed to combine the existing Writing Book and Workbook into a single volume, reflecting the needs of both teachers and learners.

All content in the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book" is structured so that learners can intuitively grasp the context through illustrations. Additionally, vocabulary and grammar are taught through conversations and activities to improve both fluency and accuracy.

By scanning a QR code, learners can access recorded dialogues. The appendix includes a variety of engaging and unique Sogang-style conversational activities. Words and expressions are translated according to their contextual meanings and are compiled in a separate "Grammar & Vocabulary Reference Book."

The cultural section is designed to be understood through photographs and illustrations alone. Additionally, QR codes link to YouTube Shorts videos related to Korean culture, providing insights into real-life situations in Korea.

We hope that the "Sogang Korean Revised 3rd Edition" serves as a valuable resource for learners interested in Korean culture and language, as well as for educators preparing effective lessons.

The "Sogang Korean Writing Book+ 2A⋅2B" is a supplementary textbook to the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book 2A⋅2B."

This book has been newly published by organizing and expanding the internal writing materials while also reflecting the feedback from teachers and students who previously used the "Sogang Korean Workbook." It enhances convenience for both learners and instructors by integrating a Workbook for self-review, Writing exercises structured in stages for effective learning, and Review materials that can be used in various ways during lessons. Additionally, it is published in color to provide essential visual information for beginner-level learners.

I. Workbook

Designed to systematically reinforce classroom learning and encourage self-directed study.

1. Includes a structured summary of the learning objectives, grammar, vocabulary, and expressions from the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book."

2. Provides focus tables for intuitive grammar understanding, grammar practice exercises, and vocabulary questions related to speaking, reading, and listening activities.

3. Contains fill-in-the-blank exercises that allow learners to listen to the recorded dialogues from the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book" and complete the script.

II. Writing

Designed to reduce the burden of writing through learner interaction and support the completion of practical writing tasks.

1. Includes a variety of texts and activities that utilize grammar and vocabulary learned in the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book."

2. Provides additional vocabulary and English translations not included in the "Sogang Korean Student’s Book 2A⋅2B" at the bottom of each page.

III. Review

Every two lessons, learners can review speaking, listening & speaking, reading & speaking, and writing. This section reinforces what has been learned through diverse activities.

1. Includes grammar summary cards for flexible use and a variety of review exercises, such as vocabulary and grammar application questions, conversation practice, reading/listening exercises, and writing tasks.

2. Provides question lists incorporating previously learned grammar, vocabulary, and expressions to facilitate natural speaking practice.

The appendix includes answer keys, with example sentences or model texts provided where multiple answers are possible. Additionally, an interview question list is included.

We hope this book serves as an enjoyable and structured writing resource that helps learners systematically develop their writing skills and engage in self-directed learning. Furthermore, we aim for it to be a valuable tool for Korean language instructors, enabling efficient feedback in the classroom.
